i love working at an aquarium i just witnessed a grown man with children enter the freshwater gallery and loudly exclaim “oh shit, piranhas are REAL?!?”

the delights of working with the public continue! just heard someone announce over the radios “hey we have guest wearing an inappropriate shirt that needs to be spoken to, i last saw him in sharks & rays and the shirt says ‘do milfs not drugs’ if a supervisor could take care of that that’d be great cuz he’s not being cooperative” and then a good 5 minutes later i heard a supervisor radio for security backup

So Universal Pictures may have just intentionally over-pruned all of the city owned trees in front of their LA corporate office in an effort to fuck with the WGA/SAG-AFTRA picketers during what is predicted to be the hottest week of the year so far:

And the LA City Controller is looking into it:

Once again it looks like it’s time for:

btw, WGA’s asking people interested in this case to also sign this petition about a god damned bitch of an unsatisfactory situation on another street on the Same FUCKING lot. NBC Universal (whose CEO is Mike Cavanagh just btw in case Ron Pearlman is listening) has started a construction project that completely removed the sidewalks from five different gates, in two cases forcing pedestrians to literally walk into oncoming traffic. In addition to being an ADA violation, it’s just flat out despicably evil of them and WGA’s asking for public support on this issue.

Great news, SAG-AFTRA has created an influencer hub for anyone trying to figure out what they should or should not be doing as a person who makes things on the internet during the strike.

Bad news, I have already SEEN WITH MY OWN TWO EYES people in fandoms I talk about and participate in spreading misinformation that these guidelines are only for union influencers. This is not true, it’s for all of us.

Solidarity in this case looks like no organically talking about, cosplaying from, accepting brand deals to promote works from struck companies. I am begging, covered in blood and sweat, I have run all the way here I have been running for years, listen to the official union sources and act accordingly or be prepared for the people who make those things you love to view you quite differently.

Studios Are Terrified That the Strikes Will Reveal the Truth About Streaming
We are now part of the Summer of Strike. After failed negotiations with the studios and corporations who run the entertainment industry, bot
    Pajiba

“Think of the two major possibilities here: Either the studios owe untold millions to their talents and paying it out will decimate their stock prices, or they owe so little because there really is no money in streaming and the bubble of their entire 21st century business model will burst in spectacular fashion. And make no mistake: this is a bubble. This is the inevitable climax of a stockholder-driven hunger for infinite growth, despite the fact that, by design, such a thing cannot and should not exist. The infection of Wall Street has overwhelmed the entertainment industry beyond repair, leading to cultural vandals like David Zaslav to be appointed with the callous duty of strip-mining decades’ of artistic beauty for pennies of tax write-offs. The past and future are frivolous in comparison to the short-term demands that the line keep going up.”
